Yup...my sisters, my mom and I are going on a little mini-vacation to New York City! My older sister Steph just turned 30 on April 22nd!! (Happy 30th to you Steph!) What a great way to carry on the celebrations, right?
I'm pretty excited!! Although, I am a little nervous about being away from Coulter (& Tom) for 4 nights/5 days. I'm just going to miss them sooo much! I've been away--don't get me wrong--but it's just something I am feeling. When Tom and I went to Hawaii back in Sept, we were gone 10 days and C was in the wonderful care of my mother. 4 nights is nothing, right? C will be with Tom the majority of the time. My MIL will help out along with Tom's Aunt Thurs afternoon and Fri morning/afternoon (while Tom is working). But, Tom will be flying solo with C this weekend because my in-laws are heading out of town. Not the best planning on my part. But, I know my boys will be having fun! Tom sure can get Coulter to laugh when he chasing him around and tickles him. It's adorable!
Not sure of all our plans BUT we are going to see Wicked on Broadway!
Not sure of all our plans BUT we are going to see Wicked on Broadway!
It is a musical inspired by The Wizard of Oz. Long before Dorothy drops in, two girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. Wicked tells the story of how these two unlikely friends grew to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch. I have heard great things about this musical!! A friend told me she just saw in out in NYC recently and it was well worth every penny! Can't wait!
The last time I was in NYC was back in 1998, right before my senior year of H.S. My oldest sister was a nanny out in Connecticut, we took a family trip to visit her! Of course we will visit all the historical landmarks/museums/parks we can...
BUT ANY SUGGESTIONS on places to Go? EAT? ATTEND? Let me know!! What was your favorite NYC trip memory?

You're coming to NYC!!! That's great! I have seen Wicked twice and LOVE IT. I'm hoping to meet up with Steph some night before she leaves, and I'm really exctied. Let me know if you guys need ideas or help finding someplace. My suggestion is to go to the area in Brooklyn called DUMBO- it's a park between the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges. Awesome view of Manhattan skyline and there's a great ice cream parlor on the pier.

I'm jealous! NYC is the best. I haven't been there since 2000. But did all the touristy things...stood in the Today show crowd, Central Park, FASHION DISTRICT, and lots of shopping.
Have fun!
I'm so excited for you!! I'm going to NYC the end of May for a week with my sister-in-law.. I can't wait to hear how your trip was.. what you did etc. etc... so you can give ME tips on what to do and see!! Have fun!

Wicked is for sure one of the best shows I have ever seen. You will LOVE it! Make sure you spend lots of time in Central Park. Canal street is a must with tons of cheap shopping, and like Janet said...DUMBO - such a fun area. Have a great time!!
Oh how I love NYC! I went the last time in 2005 with my mom, cousins, and aunt--awesome trip! We saw 5 shows in 4 days! We're kindof Broadway nuts--We didn't get to see Wicked though--I'm jealous!! I dug out my itinerary from the trip b/c we went to a couple of great (affordable!) restaurants: Joe Allen Restaurant & John's Pizzeria...If I remember they both have websites. Super yummy!!
Fun! Stace! You didn't even tell me. You're going to a Broadway show?!?! Wicked! I have been there once. We weren't able to go to any while we were out there. That was the biggest bummer. Have so much fun!!
have fun in NYC!!
Wow! We went 6 years ago to see my brothers graduate from the USMMA on Long Island. I had an anti-city husband in tow, as well as a one year old, so it wasn't the most enjoyable time. But I think you guys will have a great time! Enjoy!
I'm soo glad you are getting to go to NYC! Love reading your blog.
Just one tip, for all your theater needs check out www.broadwaybox.com they help you get the best prices on seats and the best locations.
Particularly for wicked check out http://www.broadwaybox.com/shows/wicked_nyc_tickets.aspx where you can enter the dates you want to go and BroadwayBox will bring up a list of tickets available with prices and a seating chart marking off the locations of the seats so you can compare their value.
Hopes this helps you and anyone else who reads the blog. Feels great to add something and not just read!
