A nice quiet birthday evening at home on a Thursday is what Tom thought was going to happen. I told him I picked up some steaks from the steakhouse to grill. His mother (who takes care of Coulter when we go out--works Thursday nights--but not if I can get her to switch!!)
I started our adventure by capturing my husband right when he got home from work at 4. I had it all lined up to have his grandma come and watch Coulter. I told him we had tickets for a 5pm event, I didn't mention what or where, we just got in the car and I DROVE. (that never happens) I packed a little snack and we were off.
Tom was sure the tickets were to a movie--since we haven't seen one in like Forever! I let him believe that until I needed help with directions. Our 5pm event was the Home and Garden Show in Sioux Falls at the Convention Center. Yeah, what a way to kick off your 30th birthday you must be thinking. BUT with plans to build this Spring/Summer that was just up our alley. It was fun to get ideas and start planning.

Our next stop was dinner. The restaurant of choice doesn't take reservations and you must know that it is a BUSY place. TEXAS ROADHOUSE. They do however have "call ahead seating". You can't call until 4pm because that is when they open. SO knowing that Tom comes home at 4pm I had to secretly call and find out all the details if 6 wanted to meet at TR at 7pm. How did I make these secrect calls? Thank goodness for bathrooms in the convention center. I dismissed myself ever so quietly to "use the bathroom" AKA call TR. It worked out like a charm. But I had to do it twice within 45 mins. Thank goodness for pregnancy.
We arrived at TR surprised by a few friends. WE had a GREAT dinner all together, eating way too much of course. Thanks Jessica, Erik, Sara and Jason for joining us. We had a blast!!!

Tom had to saddle-up to eat his birthday sundae while the restaurant sang to him!

Jess, Erik, Jason, Sara, Me & the birthday BOY!
Tom and I ended the night just right. At Starbucks. A tall dark roast for him and a decaf honey latte for me. It's great. Have you tried one?
