Scrabble!

The last few nights after the boys are in bed Tom and I have pulled out an old game we used to play all.the.time! Scrabble. We love it! We are both very competitive at it too!! Now we have played many different versions of the game, let me define a few.

Word: Travel Scrabble

Definition:
A word making game played in route to a particular destination; on the go.

Used in Context:
The last time Tom and I played travel scrabble was 3 years ago in flight to Cancun (March, 2006). While playing I believe everyone around us was utterly annoyed because the letters kept popping out of their place on the board, hopping from seat 7A to 6A. We have since thought twice about making travel scrabble a carry-on necessity.

Word: Turn Table Scrabble

Definition:
A word making game played on a turning board thus making it easy to switch turns from one player to the next without messing up the letters; round and round.

Used in Context:
In our scrabble collection of at least 6 games, turn table scrabble DOES NOT EXIST. Sad!

Word: Super Scrabble

Definition:
A word making game played on a BIGGER board with MORE spaces and DOUBLE the amount of tiles found in the standard scrabble game. (And yes the games takes a least 3.5-4 hours to get through!)

Definition:
Tom won at super scrabble last night and the final point totals were so very close. See for yourself!

Test your scrabble knowledge with some Scrabble Trivia!

During the Great Depression, an out-of-work architect Alfred Mosher Butts decided to invent the board game Scrabble, but what was its original name:

a. Criss-Cross Words
b. Lexico
c. Scrabble, it has always been scrabble
d. Checkerboard

What is your answer?

Hey Stace, I still have all the papers we kept from each coffee house/bar we took the aparment Scrabble board to. Remember those?

And yes, we take our Travel Scrabble everywhere we go.

My guess is Criss Cross Words. Second guess would be Scrabble.
